BMI stands for body mass index, a method of measuring a whether a person is at a healthy weight or not. It is entirely based upon the simple ration of height to weight. This BMI calculator is intended to be for adults, 18 and older. Both women and men use the exact same measurement equation.

These figures only give an adult a rough estimate of their weight health. It does not take into account the amount of “muscle weight” or their waist circumference, both very relevant factors. The BMI does not account for age or gender either.
