WATSON 3203 Round white Pills
Watson 3203 is a generic, prescription opioid pain medication. In addition, this drug is more potent than certain others in this classification. It is available for both pains as well as coughs.
Each white, oval-shaped pill contains;
- 7.5 mg hydrocodone bitartrate
- 325 mg acetaminophen
Type
Hydrocodone-containing medicines belong to the narcotic analgesics classification of drug types. Each contains a narcotic (opioid) and an analgesic (acetaminophen).
- This medication binds both drugs to opioid receptors to block pain perception and inhibit the inflammatory effect.
Potentiation
According to The American Journal of Medicine, combining an opioid with an analgesic is more effective than doubling the dose. This process is known as potentiation.
Addiction
This pill contains hydrocodone, an opioid, a Schedule II Controlled Substance in the United States. Being in this classification means it has a high potential for abuse, leading to severe psychological or physical dependence.
Because this drug contains the opioid narcotic hydrocodone, users risk physical and psychological dependence.
- Other drugs in this class include OxyContin, Dilaudid, and medications containing fentanyl.
Public awareness of the highly addictive nature of prescription narcotic-analgesic combination medications increased when certain celebrities revealed their ongoing struggles with hydrocodone abuse.
Withdrawal
Hydrocodone helps decrease anxiety and triggers relaxation, calmness, and even mild euphoria. However, users may need to take increasingly larger doses to achieve the same effects and prevent the onset of severe withdrawal symptoms.
Survey
According to an anonymous survey of 3520 opioid-dependent patients aged 18 years and older administered by the Washington University School of Medicine, adults who abuse prescription opioid drugs prefer oxycodone over hydrocodone-based medications. In addition, according to the survey, respondents indicated a preference for misusing oxycodone over hydrocodone.
The survey also revealed distinct differences in the demographics between hydrocodone and oxycodone addicts. For example, abuse of hydrocodone-based drugs such as Vicodin is most prevalent among females over 45. Generally, they obtained the drug through either a valid or forged doctor’s prescription. Conversely, oxycodone users were more likely to be younger, male, and get their medications from street-level dealers.
Watson 3203 contains the same active ingredients as these prescription brand drugs:
- Vicodin
- Lorcet Plus
- Anexsia
Vicodin
Vicodin tablets contain 300 mg of acetaminophen and 5 mg of hydrocodone bitartrate. Vicodin ES contains 7.5 mg of hydrocodone bitartrate.
