“Dank” Weed

Like most drug terminology, the word ‘dank’ started out as just another simple adjective used to describe a place that is uncomfortably moist, damp, and dark. Think of a dingy, mold-infested basement, a bat-infested cave, or some other unwelcoming spot. That’s why if you drop this word around folks who aren’t familiar with slang, they likely won’t have a clue what you’re talking about. What, after all, is the point of using slang words, right?

Ever since the 1970’s, it has been used by stoners, hippies, and marijuana users to describe high-quality pot that’s high in THC. It is the psychoactive component in cannabis. According to the Urban Dictionary, it is “sticky, hairy, stinky, and highly potent marijuana”. It’s also an adjective used to describe something as exceptionally good.

In fact, some cannabis breeders and dealers are now adding the word of their high-THC strains, with names like “Dank Schrader” hitting the shelves at some marijuana dispensaries. There’s a cannabis store in Colorado that’s called the DANK Dispensary.  It’s likely that the word will become a common fixture in pot marketing materials throughout the United States.

Marijuana can slow your reaction time right after using it. making everyday activities hazardous. Over time cannabis use can decrease your IQ, irritate your lungs, and even cause temporary hallucinations and paranoia. The negative side effects of Dank increase relative to the THC content. Drug users and health experts are sounding the alarm about the emergence of a new danger – Fentanyl-laced marijuana. The growing availability of the highly addictive, and deadly opioid Fentanyl fueling this concern.

According to Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco, coroner of Hamilton County, Ohio, “We have seen fentanyl mixed with marijuana” – if this is true, the pot that you think is Dank might actually contain more than just marijuana, and using Dank could in fact have serious and even deadly consequences.
