Long Term Treatment - Rehab
Today, most experts in the alcohol and drug rehab treatment industry would agree, the more time spent in full time, residential treatment, the better. AS a matter of fact studies confirm, people who start by going through a 90 day program are more likely to achieve successful long term recovery.
As mentioned on the rehab program page, there are at least 5 levels of rehab and treatment for substance abuse and alcoholism. And one of those levels is called long term rehab or treatment (it is also referred to as extended care).
Long term treatment parameters
Patients going through the process of rehabilitation for addiction and or alcoholism may participate in long term treatment through at least 5 separate and completely different avenues, as a part of their process of rehabilitation and recovery.
- When the outcome of the client's assessment indicates they have a been using drugs heavily for many years
- the client is in complete denial of the serious nature of their drug and or alcohol abuse
- They're referred by residential treatment; at the completion (or during) some length of residential treatment the treatment center or counselor indicates more treatment is necessary.
- The client has been through some lower level of treatment before, and failed
- Today's recovery industry in general, feels most addicts and alcoholics would stand the best chance of successful recovery if they participate in a 90 day, or more, long term treatment and rehab program
Long term treatment and rehabs are residential type programs with a strong emphasis on establishing new clean and sober behaviors and lifestyles changes. Most of the time, these programs require going to Narcotics Anonymous and or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and working a recovery program.
